Court Resurfacing Project

As was previously shared, the City of Menomonie is adding 2 additional pickleball courts in Wakanda Park as part of a $2.5 million improvement project.  Our club inquired about whether the existing courts would be resurfaced in conjunction with the new construction.  For reference, it is suggested that court resurfacing occur approximately every 5 years.  The courts are 8 years old and have not yet been resurfaced.  The City does not have any current or future plans to resurface.

What that means for MPCWe can leave courts the way they are and continue to spot patch; OR We can raise the funds necessary to repair and resurface the courts.  The approximate cost to repair the six pickleball courts is $20,000, and an additional $12,000 for the tennis court (which includes painting lines for 4 additional pickleball courts).

Do we have to do this now?  No.  However, the information we have received is it will be more cost effective to do it now in conjunction with the new construction rather than having them come to do it as a completely separate project.

How can you help?  If you are interested in making a contribution toward the project, please contact Lori Lewis or Lora Benrud before May 15th to let them know what your financial commitment will be.  The club is prepared to contribute $5,000.  These funds come from funds that have been collected from membership dues and event fees over the last 2 years.

Who can I contact with questions about this project?   Feel free to contact Pat Lammer, Kurt Larson, or Jim Lewis.

We send thanks in advance for your future financial commitment to enhancing pickleball in our community!
